Hook and Hunting: 2012 Safe Hunting Season

Posted: Updated:

The 2012 hunting season is being called one of the safest in five years.

The DNR says there were a total of 15 incidents during the season, and just one death.

That happened in St. Clair County on September 20th when a coyote hunter shot and accidentally killed a hunter.

The DNR credits hunters wearing hunter orange and knowing their target for making it a safe season.

The DNR also says hunter education programs are a big reason for the low number of incidents over the last few years.
