ATHENS, Ohio - Central Michigan featured a balanced offensive attack and shut down Ohio for key runs to earn a 77-48 Mid-American Conference victory at the Convocation Center Wednesday night.

Junior Taylor Johnson scored in double digits for the second-straight game, leading the Chippewas (11-7, 5-0 MAC) with 13 points, while sophomore Crystal Bradford scored 10 points to go with 14 rebounds for her fourth-straight double-double.

The Chippewas were unable to pull away early in the first half, but turned up the defense over the final 8:52 of the first frame to go on a 15-2 run and take a 35-20 lead into the break.

Senior Jalisa Olive sparked the run with a deep three from the left wing and a three-point play by Johnson made it an 8-0 run at the 3:27 mark. The Bobcats(5-12, 0-5 MAC) broke a 5:25 scoring drought on a layup by Tina Fisher with 3:12 to go, but it would be the last basket the Chippewas allow in the first half.

Sophomore Jas'Mine Bracey brought her first-half scoring total to eight points with a powerful move in the post before senior Jessica Schroll extended the lead to double digits on a fast break run out and assist from Bradford.

Central Michigan was able to run away from Ohio with another strong run in the second half, holding the Bobcats without a field goal for a stretch of 7:03 that resulted in a 27-1 CMU run. Bradford scored all 10 of her points during the stretch.

The Chippewas held a 64-40 lead at the under-eight media timeout following a defensive rebound and fast break layup by Bradford and extended the lead to 30 on a three by sophomore Kerby Tamm at the 6:01 mark, 71-41.

The Maroon and Gold will be back in action Saturday when they take on Akron inside McGuirk Arena at 2 p.m.
