U.S. Military Announced They Will No Longer Exclude Women from Combat

Officials say the U.S. Military will end its policy of excluding women from combat.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta recently announced plans to open combat jobs and direct combat units to female troops.
The order was signed today.
Panetta says that women are "an integral part of our ability to perform our mission."
The White House says President Obama supports the decision and according to press secretary Jay Carney Obama believes the country should continue to remove "unnecessary gender-based barriers to service."
