Clare County Car Theft

Posted: Updated:

Clare County Central Dispatch received a call yesterday reporting a car that was stolen from the JD Market in Lincoln Township.

The vehicle belonged to a woman who was going into the store to pay for gas.

Police say a man was seen getting into the car.

The man was seen driving on Surrey Road near Harrison Avenue when a Clare County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to pull him over.

After failing to pull over for about 10 minutes, Clare City Sergeant deployed a set of Stop Sticks.

The vehicle got two flat tires and pulled into the Speedway gas station just north of Clare.

Police vehicles tried to block the suspect in and the suspect hit the patrol cars with the stolen car.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then transferred to Bay City Hospital.

There were no reported injuries and it is still unknown what the suspect's intentions were.
