UPDATE: Woman Escapes After Being Shot and Held Captive for Five Days in Gladwin Co.

Posted: Updated:

Just days after a shocking kidnapping in Isabella County, another woman was held captive for five days before breaking free in Gladwin County.

Today she is safe, but recovering from gunshot wounds.

The woman says she was held captive since last Tuesday in a home in Hay Township.

Police say the man shot and restrained her during that time. The sheriff says she knew her abductor but could not elaborate on the relationship.

Saturday night she was able to call for help.

Police arrested her accused captor, a man from Gladwin, on attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment charges.

Deputies found him by making a traffic stop in the area.

The woman is in stable condition at a Midland Hospital.

9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and Photojournalist TonyZyber have the latest on the case.
