Leelanau County Jury Awards Teen $650,000 After Cherry Catcher Accident

A Leelanau County Jury awarded a teen $650,000, after his leg was crushed by equipment at a local cherry orchard.

Colton Brooks was 17, when he lost control of a Cherry Catcher at Stanton Orchards, in Lake Leelanau.

The machine slammed into a tree and damaged the teenager's leg.

Brooks sued the orchard and this week, won one of the largest jury awarded in the County's history.

Brook's lawyer says the teen had limited experience on the Cherry Picker and the brake malfunctioned.
