Pistons prepare for London showdown with Knicks

Posted: Updated:

The Pistons have spent the last two days across the pond in England preparing for Thursday's match up against the New York Knicks.

For New York, it will be a reunion of sorts.  Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler both celebrated on the same O2 Arena floor just months earlier after winning a gold medal for the U.S. men's basketball team at the 2012 London Olympics this past summer.

The NBA wanted to get back to London as quickly as possible to build on the success from the basketball competition at this past Olympics.  The league also had to cancel all of their international plans last season due to the lockout.

It will be the second time the NBA has traveled across the pond in the league's history.  The Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets played twice two years ago in London during the regular season.

The Pistons (14-24) are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference standings.  The Knicks (24-13) are atop the Atlantic Division and are a half game behind the Heat for first place in the east.

The game will tip at 3 p.m. eastern time and will air on NBATV.
