Hospitals Dealing With Flu Attacks

Posted: Updated:

The flu is highly contagious and that's why many local hospitals are asking those with flu symptoms to be careful when coming to the hospital.

A major issue seen in hospitals all over Michigan is those with mild flu symptoms flooding emergency rooms.

Those visits should be reserved for those in dire situations.

Munson Medical Center in Traverse City hasn't reached the point of limiting visitors yet but ask anybody dealing with flu like symptoms to stay home to avoid infecting already ill patients.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department expects the outbreak to get worse before it gets better and may reach the levels of the H1N1 outbreak in 2009.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jeff Blevins looked into the stress the flu has placed on Munson and have more details.
