A local teacher who's been keeping music in the classroom for more than 25 years is getting rewarded for her tireless work. Wendee Wolf-Schlarf is a music teacher at Eastern Elementary. She teaches two chorale ensembles at Traverse City Central, and is also the K-12 Music Coordinator for TCAPS.
This year, she's been named Music Educator of the Year by the Michigan Music Education Association; the top honor given to one music teacher in the state each year.
Wolf-Schlarf says she's learned she was not only nominated by one of her colleagues, but also someone from the state board. She will officially receive the award on Friday, in Grand Rapids.
