IRS Delays Expected to Impact People in Need

Posted: Updated:

The tax season is here but it may take a little longer to get your return back if you file early.

The I.R.S. will not start processing individual income tax returns until January 30th, instead of January 22nd.

Last minute tax law changes are to blame because forms and software had to be updated.

Tax experts say people in need are usually the first to file returns. Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency provides tax prep help to more than 1,500 people every year.

The agency also says clients should expect less money this year because several state tax credits were scaled back or expired.
