UPDATE: Oceana County Man Arrested for Wife’s Bathtub Drowning Death

Posted: Updated:

A judge denied Timothy Shannon bail this afternoon after Ocean County prosecutors charged him with murdering his wife.

Shannon, who police say is Hart City Council member, was arrested for the December 29th death of his wife Lee-Ann Shannon.

He originally called police to say Lee-Ann drowned accidentally in the bathtub at their home. Through their investigation, Oceana County Sheriff Deputies and Hart police determined that story did not add up.

Lt. Craig Mast of the Oceana County Sheriff's Office says Timothy's timeline of his wife's death was too inconsistent. In the week and a half since her death, medical reports and interviews lead them to arrest him.

Neighbors describe the couple as normal, and often saw them playing with their two children in the yard. The two children, ages 3 and 4, are now in the care of their grandparents.

Lee-Ann is described as enthusiastic volunteer with Hart's Head Start program. Both children attended Head Start and Lee-Ann was very involved in their education and finding opportunities to help the program as a whole.

"She wanted to be there for her kids," says Jodi Munoz, the director of Hart Public School's Early Childhood Programs. "She believed in paying it forward."
