Foster Grandparent Program of Northwest Michigan

Updated:

January is National Mentoring Month. Join 9&10 News Helping Hands and Farm Bureau Insurance in celebrating this month by becoming a mentor in your local community.

There are many ways to get involved including the Foster Grandparent Program of Northwest Michigan.  The Foster Grandparent Program of Northwest Michigan connects older adult volunteers with children and youth with special needs.  The volunteers use their talents, skills, and wisdom to promote positive identity, values, healthy adult relationships, and commitment to learning for children in schools, hospitals, and youth centers.  The response to the one-on-one attention, encouragement, and nurturing is children with improved sense of self-worth, confidence, and improved behavior skills.  Serving as a Foster Grandparent enriches the lives of children, but also provides a chance for older adults to stay active and involved with their community.

If you are over 55 and interested in investing in the youth of Northwest Michigan please consider getting involved.  For more information on the program and how to become a Foster Grandparent contact Catholic Human Services, Inc at 800-658-8554.
