2012 Brought Record Warmth to Northern Michigan

Posted: Updated:

Last year was the warmest on record for much of northern Michigan.

The National Weather Service released new numbers showing Traverse City, Houghton Lake, and Sault Ste. Marie all hitting new yearly highs.

The unusually warm weather in March was mostly behind the new record.

Cherries started budding early and frost nearly eliminated the entire crop.

Sugarkissed yogurt and cupcake shop noticed the warm weather in its revenue. The store says many people came in to cool off with a tasty treat.

Cherry Bay Orchards hopes, with budding still several months away, the abnormal weather will not be coming back for a second time around.

9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and Photojournalist Jacob Johnson have more on the impact of the unusual weather.
