Closed for Business: Michigan's Iran Economic Sanctions Act

Posted: Updated:

The Government of Michigan will no longer do business with people or companies tied to Iran.

Governor Snyder signed a law last week, called the Iran Economic Sanctions Act.

It requires anyone wanting to do business with the State to certify that it has no ties to Iran.

Violators could face a six-figure fine.

The Federal Government already prohibits almost all trade with Iran, because of its links to terrorism and nuclear program.
