Post Fire Clean Up Expected to Take 2 Weeks at Reed City HS

Posted: Updated:

The fire began in a janitor's closet on the north end of Reed City High School near the gymnasium.

The academic areas of the Reed City school were fairly untouched as was the attached middle school.

Crews were called to the fire just before 6 PM New Year's Eve.

The flames were put out quickly but the smoke damage has left much clean up to be done.

Students return to class Monday and the school expects the cafeteria to be clean by then.

The gym areas will take another week, forcing out the school's basketball teams and gym classes.

9&10's Eric Lloyd was there for some of the clean up and has more details.
