It's New Year's Eve, and that means Lake Superior State University's List of Banished Words and Phrases is out.
The word gurus at L.S.S.U. have doubled-down on their passion for language and released their 38th annual list of "Words to be Banished."
Here are some of the top words LSSU is banning for 2013.
For starters, fiscal cliff. Then, passionate, double down and YOLO, meaning "You Only Live Once." Those are followed by job creation and spoiler alert.
Others include, kick the can down the road, bucket list, trending, superfood, boneless wings and guru.
This year's list is compiled from nominations received mostly through the university's web site.
If you have a word or phrase you'd like to nominate for next year, just click on the link attached to this story.
The university recommends adding a description that tells why you'd like to see the word banished.
9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have more on this year's list.
