Michigan State Police Warn of Texting Scam

Posted: Updated:

State police in Alpena are warning area residents of a wide-spread cell phone texting scam.

They say the scam is a type of phishing scam.

The text message beings with a notice that your credit card has been deactivated and to call the provided number.

Once you call, the scammer attempts to get the caller to give out personal information like their actual credit card number.

Anyone who has called the number and revealed any information should call their credit card company and cancel their card immediately.
