4 New York Firefighters Shot, 2 Dead in House Fire Shooting

Four New York firefighters were shot while responding to a house fire, two firefighters are dead.

The fire started around 6:00 this morning near Rochester.

Police say 62-year-old William Spengler set the house on fire to trap the firefighters into this deadly ambush.

Spengler killed two and wounded two other firefighters and an off-duty police officer before killing himself.

The gunfire kept firefighters from battling the flames for hours.

They say he started the fire at his own home and a car.

Police also mentioned that Spengler had served 17 years for manslaughter in his grandmother's death.
