Northern Michigan Businesses Looking Forward to Winter Season

Posted: Updated:

While creating hardships for some, last week's winter storm has many businesses in Northern Michigan smiling.

McGuire's Resort in Cadillac is already grooming its cross country ski trails.

The Resort says their phones have been busy with people making reservations, now that the snow is here.

And, some snowmobilers are already showing up to take advantage of the trails in the area.

They say earlier snows melted too quickly and kept potential visitors away, but think what is on the ground now, is here to stay.

"Last year it was a little tough, because it was similar to this year--nothing early, it came and it was gone.  I don't think this is leaving, I think we're gonna be with it for a while and I think that's really gonna help," says Bill Shepardson.

The Resort will expanding its Winter activities as the season continues, with sleigh rides beginning at the resort next week.
