NEW DETAILS: Oregon Gunman Identified

Posted: Updated:

Oregon police say three people are dead, including the gunman, after a shooting at a shopping mall in the Portland area.

Police say 22-year-old Jacob Tyler Roberts killed three people, including himself during the shooting rampage at the Clackamas Town Center.

Roberts allegedly stole an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle from someone he knew.

Hundreds of holiday shoppers and store employees fled for cover, when the shots rang out around 3:30 PM, Pacific Time.

Two people were killed and another was injured, but others were able to evacuate the building.

Witnesses described a scene of chaos and disbelief as the gunman, wearing a camouflage outfit and a white mask shot an initial burst of fire and then more rounds, near the mall's food court.

Police say Roberts did not have a criminal record and they are still unsure what the motive was.
