Petoskey Students, Emergency Responders Demonstrate Dangers of Drunk Driving

Posted: Updated:

It is an extreme way to get the point across for a class project, but two Emmet County students wanted to be sure their classmates paid attention.

The Petoskey High School Freshmen had a local fire department, EMTs, and police officers help them demonstrate the dangers of Drunk Driving, earlier this afternoon.

In the made-up scenario, two friends crashed their Jeep after leaving a party, in Petoskey.

Police arrested the driver, who had been drinking, and his friend died.

Emergency crews demonstrated cutting the roof off the Jeep, to get the friend out.

Even though it was just pretend, both teens say they wouldn't want to do this again.

But, they hope the message is clear.

The Resort--Bear Creek Fire Chief, also reminded students of the dangers of driving, while under the influence of drugs.
