"Hoops For Hunger" Food Drive a Slam Dunk at CMU

Dozens of chips are fired up this afternoon as they prepare to celebrate the finale to their "Hoops for Hunger" campaign.

Area elementary students who donate to the food drive are invited to Mt Pleasant today to watch the lady Chippewas take on Green Bay. Participants say the students field trip enthusiasm brings a lot to the game.

Last year's food drive collected more than 50,000 pounds of food, creating more than 30,000 meals for mid Michigan families.

CMU hopes that encouraging kids to participate at a young age, will be a positive step in their education.
