Traverse City Ranked Fourth On List Of Hottest Winter Vacation Spots in USA

Posted: Updated:

Traverse City is getting national recognition as one of the top winter vacation spots in the country.

The website www.livability.com ranked the city fourth on its list of America's hottest cold cities.

The top of the list included: Anchorage, Alaska; Spokane, Washington; then Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The website mentioned the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa as a great place to relax.

The resort says the ranking will help tourism.

Non-profit ski hill, Mount Holiday hopes the status will translate into more visitors skiing down its slopes.

These three cities trailed Traverse City on the list: Reno, Nevada; Waukesha, Wisconsin; and Missoula

The website looked at variety of criteria including: Winter activities, beautiful views, and the amount of snow.

9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and Photojournalist Joel Deaner have more on what the ranking could mean for the area.
