Two Northern Michigan Parks Receiving Improvements from the State

Posted: Updated:

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is awarding two Northern Michigan parks with improvements from a Recreation Passport Grant Program.

The two grants total $90,000 and will be given to Lakefront Park on the shore of Lake Cadillac and Wheatland Township Park in Mecosta County.

State Representative Phil Potvin announced today that the Lakefront Park will get a playground and the Wheatland Township Park will get improvements on their basketball courts and infrastructures.

"This is great news for our communities and for the families who will enjoy these new and improved facilities," said Potvin. "The sites that were selected are already beautiful areas that have a lot to offer, but there is always more that can be done to freshen things up. These projects will help us enjoy our time off and make our community even more welcoming to tourists and other visitors."

The funding came from sales of the state's Recreation Passport Program.
