Grand Traverse County Police Investigating Handgun Stolen By Juveniles

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a handgun from a car in Garfield Township.

The owner of the gun didn't know the handgun was stolen until he was contacted by police.

The handgun was stolen about two weeks ago and found in Traverse City today around noon.

Police believe at least three Traverse City juvenile males were involved in the theft.

Three juvenile petitions have been submitted to the Prosecutor's Office for review of the investigation.

Police don't believe the gun was on any school campus.
