Great Northwest Bowling Conference holds 1st meet of the year

Twenty two teams represented nine area schools in the first Great Northwest Bowling Conference meet of the year in Gaylord.

In Division I/II for boys, Traverse City West Green started out 2-0 with wins over TC West White (30 to 0) and Elk Rapids Orange (21.5 to 8.5). Sawyer Robinson led the Titans in both contest with series of; 413 and 394. Kirk May rolled a 225 in the loss for the Elks.

Traverse City Central Black split their meets beating TC Christian White 26 to 4 and losing to St. Francis 1 to 29. Robert Williams led the Gladiators in the win with a 172 game.

In the Boys III/IV Division, St. Francis started 2-0 with the win over Central paired with a win over Glen Lake 21 to 9. Bailey Johnson rolled a 191 game in the win over the Lakers.

Traverse City Christian started with two wins one over Benzie (27.5 to 2.5) and Traverse City White (22 to 8). Troy Novak (187 game) and Jon Tuck (185) starred in the wins.

Kingsley also started 2 and 0 by beating TC Central gold (30 to 0) and TC West Gold (19 to 11). Matt Dodson had a high game of 163 for the Stags on the day.

Elk Rapids Orange had a win versus their own Black squad to start 1 and 1. Kirk May picked up a 4-6 split in the morning match win.

Bellaire rebounded from a morning loss to TC West Gold (25 to 5). Nick Betten rolled a 369 series in the loss.

In the afternoon meet Bellaire beat Benzie 21 to 9. Jared Moody had the high series the Eagles with a 336.

Glen Lake beat TC Central Gold to finish their day 1 and 1.

In the girls conference TC West Green won both meets 25 to 5 over Glen Lake and 26 to 4 over Kingsley. Lexi Forton and Corinne Schrotenboer led the Titans.

Kingsley scored a win in their other match beating TC Central 24 to 6. Ember Lhamon led the Stags and Hope Eshleman rolled a 169 game in the loss.

TC Central ended the day at 1.5 and a .5 with a rare 15 to 15 ties with Bellaire. Trojan Samantha Mosley led both teams with a 305 series. Bellaire finished the day .5 and 1.5 with a loss to TC West Gold 9 to 21.

Glen Lake paired their West loss with a win over St. Francis. Kary Pleva led the Lakers with a 158 game in the win.

Teams travel to Manistee for their next meet on December 8th.
