Runners Compete in Farmland 5K

Posted: Updated:

A 5K race unlike many others took place for the first time today.

The Farmland 5K was held in Traverse City and while many 5K races are held on sidewalks or streets, this one was around the perimeter of a 150 acre centennial farm.

The race director, Lisa Taylor, wanted adults to be able to participate in the sport, that is usually just for high school students.

Over 300 runners came out for today's race.

In the future, the race director hopes to expand the race into different categories, including ones that include runner's four-legged friends.
