V.A. Dedicates New Clinic in Grayling

Posted: Updated:

The Department of Veterans Affairs dedicated a new clinic in Grayling that hopes to provide area veterans with better access to care.

The new location is the ninth in northern Michigan to open. The V.A. has been trying to improve care for veterans living in rural areas for several years.

On Friday, veterans and local leaders were on hand to show their support of the new facility at a dedication ceremony.

The clinic could see more than 1,000 veterans a year linking them to the wider network of V.A. specialists.

The clinic opened on November 13th. It is equipped with a "Telehealth" system that allows doctors based at another clinic to speak with patients through a video feed. They can even listen to someone's heartbeat and examine a skin condition using special tools.

If you are a veteran in the area who wants to use the new clinic, just contact the V.A. to enroll.
