Drunk Driving Case Against MSP Trooper Not Over

Posted: Updated:

A drunk driving case against a Michigan State Police trooper isn't over afterall.

Since a judge dismissed the case in August, a spokesperson with the state police tells 9&10 News a prosecutor refiled a drunk driving charge against William Smith.

Police arrested Smith in Sault Ste. Marie in July.

At the time he was the Post Commander in Gladstone.

A judge dismissed the case after determining the search warrant to obtain blood work wasn't valid.

Smith has been demoted and transferred since the initial accusations.

The prosecutor handling the case was not available today to comment.
