Fire Destroys Vacation Cabin in Lake County

Posted: Updated:

A fire ripped through 20 years of family memories and hard work in about an hour and a half early this morning.

The fire broke out in the basement of a vacation cabin in Lake County near Baldwin, at the corner of 44th Street and Astor.

Nobody was in the cabin at the time.

The owner built the home with his bare hands almost 20 years ago.

His family used the cabin as their vacation getaway for the past two decades and says those memories will be the biggest loss.

The fire marshall said he could not find the source of the fire but says it is not suspicious.
