DEVELOPING: One Person Dead In Missaukee County Shooting

Northern Michigan's News leader spent several hours at the scene of a deadly overnight shooting in Missaukee County.

The shooting happened just before 10:00 last night on Lachance Road in Lake Township.

Missaukee County Sheriff Jim Bosscher tells 9 & 10 News 46-year-old Charles Cuykendall from Lake City is dead, and a 48-year-old Lake City man was arrested at the scene.

Donald Staats is currently in the Missaukee County jail on open murder and felony firearm charges and was arraigned today at 3:00.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab arrived early this morning to process the scene.

Sheriff Bosscher says the investigation is ongoing.

    UPDATE: 9 & 10 News has just confirmed that convicted murderer Eric Knysz has been declared brain dead.

    Knysz was on life support after the suicide attempt that took place Monday afternoon.
