Northern Michigan Counties See Increase in Per Capita Income

Posted: Updated:

Per capita personal income is on the rise in several counties in the Northern Michigan region - and Leelanau County is among the top three.

The area has received a lot of national attention over the past year - receiving an award as one of the top places in Michigan to retire.

The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce tells us that the increase could be attributed to the fact that Leelanau is near a busy town like Traverse City, and has a lot of waterfront properties.

Many counties in Northern Michigan are near the top of the per capita income rise; they're working to make their area a more attractive place to live.
