Beal City loses D-8 State Football Final 35-10

DETROIT - Beal City's youth and inexperienced had not shown up in the first 13 games of the season.  However, Head Coach Lou Rau told FOX Sports Detroit at halftime that he thought it showed in a 35-10 loss to Harbor Beach in the Division 8 State Final.  It was the Aggies first loss of the year.

The Pirates jumped out to a 28-3 in the first half primarily off big plays.

Which made it tough for a run-oriented team like Beal City to catch up.

However, the Aggies started the second half strong. Ty Rollin capped off a 9 play, 73 yard drive with an 11 yard TD.  That pulled Beal City within 18.

The Aggies defense followed it up by forcing the Pirates to go 3-and-out.

The offense mounted another drive.  They 45 yards on 10 plays, but could not get the final 2 yards to put it in the end zone.  The Pirates stuffed Alex Schafer on a 4th and goal late in the 3rd Quarter.

Alex Schafer made up for it on the following drive, forcing and recovering a fumble on the Harbor Beach 45 yard line.

However, Sam Schafer threw an interception on the next play that was returned to the Beal City 6 yard line.  Derek Pfaf punched in the final score of the game for the Pirates.

Beal City finishes the season 13-1, and have now made 6 trips the State Finals.  It was their first appearance at Ford Field since winning it all in 2009.
