SPECIAL REPORT: Future of the Boardman River

Posted: Updated:

On October 6th, Grand Traverse County's Brown Bridge Dam Project had a breach in the dewatering structure, leading to the rapid release of water from the Brown Bridge Dam Pond.

It prompted evacuations, killed wildlife and flooded 53 properties in the Boardman River Valley.

Slowly draining the pond has been part of a plan for some time.

But a cause of the malfunction still isn't known.

Today, work continues on the Dam Removal Project.

But many remain concerned about the environmental impacts of what happened the day of the flood.

9&10's Bill Froehlich has this special report on the future of the Boardman River.
