Feedback at 5:00- The New Hot Lunch

Posted: Updated:

If you are lining up for hot lunch in schools, there are some big changes to how healthy they are.

As Christina Vecchioni told us last night on 9&10 News at 5:00, new federal guidelines, part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, require healthier foods, and calorie restrictions.

Today's hot lunches are made up of less snacks, more vegetables, and smaller portions of meat, along with low or non-fat milk.

There are also calorie limits, which has some students complaining they are not getting enough to eat.

A clinical dietitian we spoke with says athletes may need more calories, but for the average student, the portions should be enough.

For tonight's "Feedback at 5:00," we wanted to know what you thought of the new hot lunch?
