No Additional Septage Tax for Grand Traverse County and Part of Leelanau County

People with septic tanks don't have to worry about an extra tax this year in Grand Traverse County and part of Leelanau County.

Officials are working toward a rate increase.

The increase would help pay for upkeep at the septic plant in Traverse City.

It would impact Grand Traverse County and Elmwood Township, in Leelanau County.

This morning the Board of Public Works met to discuss the new plan.

Back in October, a public hearing had to be postponed due to the large crowd of people opposed to the tax.

The rate increase could range from about 12 cents to 18 cents per gallon.
