Investigation Into Possible E-Coli Outbreak in Antrim County

Posted: Updated:

Several illnesses prompted an investigation into possible E-coli in local, unpasteurized cider.

E-coli bacteria has been found in samples from multiple people in Antrim County who have gotten sick in the past two weeks.

The Health Department of Northwest Michigan is teamed up with other state agencies to test some unpasteurized cider for the bacteria.

They say the cider was produced at a local, unlicensed facility and did not have required warning labels for unpasteurized products.

Anyone in the area with abdominal pain or other symptoms who recently drank unpasteurized cider should call their doctor.
