Munson Medical Center's Kid's Creek Project is Right on Schedule

Posted: Updated:

A scenic project about four years in the making is finally underway.

Crews started moving dirt for a new creek channel for their Kid's Creek restoration project, right on schedule.

The hospital is re-routing the creek through the center of its campus in Traverse City.

As long as the weather allows, crews are working to relocate underground utilities.

The hospital says the finished product will tie in nicely with their future cancer center.

Steve Tongue works at Munson Medical Center's Facilities and says,

"The neighborhood is rallying around this, they're gonna have a nice 3-acre parkland.  It's gonna really soften the edges of our campus...it's gonna be great to be able to have some natural space to enjoy."

Plans cal for the project to be completed by next fall.
