NEW DETAILS: Police Say Man Arrested in Connection to I-96 Shootings

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say a 43-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the I-96 shootings.

Police have been investigating the scene of shootings on I-96 since October 16th.

The suspect was taken into custody Monday night in Wixom. Potential evidence was also taken at the suspect's home.

More than two dozen reported shootings along I-96 from Oakland to Ingham counties and up M-52 into Shiawassee County. Ten incidents were in Wixom. At least one injury was reported.

State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said vehicles parked along roadsides, coming out of wood lines on the side of freeways or doing anything else seemingly out of the norm were being stopped and searched.

Michigan State Police believe the suspect was shooting at vehicles as they passed from the opposite direction.

A reward was upped to $102,000.
