Newaygo County Crash Kills Two and Leaves One in Critical Condition

Two people are dead and one is in critical condition after they were involved in a single car crash in Newaygo County.

Deverin Simons, 24-year-old from Newaygo was driving him and two other people when they left the roadway and crashed into several trees.

The accident happened late last night on Elm Avenue between 72nd and Croton Road in Croton Township.

Simons and his passenger, 27-year-old Richie Aguilar from Fremont, died. Michael Shortsle was in the back seat at the time of the crash and had to be extricated from the car and taken to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
