The S.S. Badger has canceled service today amid high winds kicking up waves on Lake Michigan.
Wind gusts of more than 40 mph have been reported on Lake Michigan and more high winds are forecasted.
The ferry's last sailing of the year is scheduled for Friday.
The Badger's permit that allows it to flush coal ash into Lake Michigan expires in December. Its operators are asking for more time to find an alternative to the coal ash dumping.
