Traffic Stop Leads to Driver Getting Arrested on Six Separate Charges

Posted: Updated:

An officer from the MT. Pleasant Post had been attempting to contact the 30-year-old man for an unrelated incident, when the trooper happened to see the suspect sitting at a stop sign, yesterday, on Thomas Street and North Street.

The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, due to an equipment violation.

The suspect initially pulled over, then got half-way out of his vehicle, and yelled at the trooper.

He got back into his vehicle and attempted to flee from the cop.

The 30-year-old made it about two blocks, where he came to a second stop.

He got out of the vehicle and tried running on foot, but was quickly arrested by the trooper.

Further investigation revealed the man had a stolen handgun, suspected marijuana, and several .357 rounds inside the vehicle.

He is now facing six charges: (1) carrying a concealed weapon; (2) felon possessing a fire-arm, (3) Police Officer-Fleeing in the Third Degree; (4) controlled substance-delivery/manufacture of marijuana, (5) possessing a stolen fire-arm; (6) and resisting and obstructing a police officer.

The suspect was lodged in the Isabella County Jail.

The trooper was assisted by Mount Pleasant PD.
