Feedback at 5:00- East Lansing Drinking Ordinance

Posted: Updated:

Bars and restaurants around Michigan State University implemented an ordinance that was aimed to curb excessive drinking.

East Lansing has a regulation known as the 50/50 ordinance which requires bars and restaurants selling alcohol to earn at least 50% of revenue from food sales.

The ordinance was put in place in the 1980s and required businesses to file quarterly reports to the city.

Questions have arose about the effectiveness and the ordinance has been looked at more of a hassle.

For tonight's "Feedback at 5:00," what do you think about the ordinance and would you like something like this in your community?
