Record Year for Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Rolling hills, sand dunes, and mesmerizing views of Lake Michigan, more people than ever before are experiencing the beauty of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Park officials say 1.4 million people made the trip to Leelanau County this year. Attendance has increased 19 percent from last year.

The park is using the additional money from entrance fees to improve facilities and maintain the park for future generations.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes have recently received several national attention which could be part of what is driving up attendance.

The national park still has a few months left to increase the record even more.
