Drug Arrests in Chippewa County

Posted: Updated:

There are accusations a group in Chippewa County went far beyond the Medical Marijuana Act.

The ten are in jail now, accused of crossing many boundaries.

The investigation resulted in 20 counts of child abuse, numerous drug charges and more.

The County Prosecutor says the investigation started when deputies found marijuana plants while responding to a domestic assault.

Search warrants covered places in Kincheloe, Saint Ignace, Sault Ste. Marie and Brimley where investigators found hundreds of marijuana plants, hash oil, money and records.

The suspects face additional charges for children as young as two being present during the crimes.

More arrests are expected.

9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have more from Chippewa County.
