Grayling Works to Revitalize Downtown as Long-time Restaurant Prepares to Close

Posted: Updated:

As a long-time business prepares to shut its doors for good, people in Grayling are working to revitalize downtown.

The Grayling Restaurant is closing Sunday after serving the community for 75 years.

Grayling has been working to fill empty store fronts in the downtown for many years.

The chamber of commerce says it is working with businesses to find new ways to encourage development. The chamber says there is some recent progress with art galleries and a dance studio opening up.

Some businesses in the area say it is often a struggle to make it through the winter. They say it will take a substantial community effort to make a major change.

9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and photojournalist Tony Zyber have more on the story.
