Hagerty Insurance Reveals Major Expansion, Plans to Add Jobs

Posted: Updated:

Hagerty Insurance serves collectible car owners worldwide, you could say it's a dream come true for CEO, McKeel Hagerty, he started the company in his parents basement in the 80's; now, it's bigger than ever.

The nearly 60,000 square foot expansion in Old Town replaces the eye sore that once stood there, abandoned houses. The company was growing so quick, their employees were scattered about the city, now they're all able to work here in one space. Also about to open in the company's new building, a coffee shop open to the public, and a fitness gym for employees.

After about three years of planning, raising funds, and getting approval, the doors are open, and they're looking to add even more jobs.

They've expanded to clients in Europe and for McKeel Hagerty, it's a proud moment to see his vision grow in the Cherry Capital.

A potentially stinky situation for some people in Clare County, they say their garbage hasn't been picked up in weeks. It's all due to state enforced frost laws. The county says one company's trucks are just too heavy to travel on the black-top roads and would probably damage them.
