Area Veterans Organizations Giving Away Excess Coho and King Salmon

Posted: Updated:

Area Veterans Organizations will be handling the distribution of excess Coho and King Salmon throughout Northern Michigan, again this year.

Canadian American Fisheries, the contractor for harvesting the salmon from the DNR Weirs, will be providing the fish on short notice for distribution.

The fish will be whole, so bring a cooler or a heavy bag to receive your fish.

These fish are available to the public and the number of fish given to each family will be based on the turnout to receive them.

Fish Donations will occur September through October, at locations listed from the link provided.

Some Salmon will be distributed in Elk Rapids, Fife Lake, and Manistee tomorrow, starting at 3:30 PM.
