Feedback at 5:00- Driverless Cars

Posted: Updated:

California is paving the way for driverless cars, approving new laws that will help legalize their use.

Google's fleet of a dozen computer controlled vehicles have logged more than 300,000 miles of self-driving, without an accident.

Autonomous cars use computers, sensors and other technology to operate independently, but a human driver can override the autopilot function and take control of the vehicle at any time.

The company says driverless cars will make roads safer, and provide transportation for people who cannot drive, like the blind, disabled, elderly or intoxicated.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder says he likes the idea of driverless cars but wants to wait to make them legal in our state.

For tonight's "Feedback at 5:00," we asked if you would support this new technology in Michigan.
