Board of Public Works To Hold Public Hearings on Septic Assessment Tax

Posted: Updated:

The Grand Traverse Board of Public Works is in the process of planning out the next steps for a special tax assessment for Grand Traverse County.

The Septage Tax Plan will help the septic plant in Traverse City with costs for upkeep, affecting Grand Traverse County and Elmwood Township in Leelanau County.

The plant prevents waste from entering fields and waterways.

While some in the area are not happy about another tax, the Board Director says he wants them to know, it will benefit them.

The board will hold two public meetings before making any decisions, but if they decide to move forward, they're hoping to have it on the winter tax bill.
